So you were wise enough to leave Trinity off your CAO, or you were a fool twice over by putting it on your CAO but not getting the points. Regardless, you’re here now to do 3 to 5 years depending on your course, which is about what you’d get for a fairly serious crime in this country, if even.

The important things to note, though,

Science students are total nerds, but they’re harmless and somewhat friendly.

Law students should not be trusted; much like actual lawyers, they would unplug their mother to charge their phone.

Engineers are great craic if you are brave enough to test your liver.

Anyone in Quinn is a twat, really.

Medicine is medicine, I guess, but nurses will almost certainly drink you under the table; don’t be fooled.

Ag Science, if you are reading this, you probably don’t do ag science.

Computer scientists smell (who would have guessed).

Architecture, keep to themselves.

Arts, Humanities and Social Science are the rest of you, the riffraff, the unemployable and weird. Definitely a likely area to generate UCD “characters” mainly because Newman has all the strange people in it. Graduates go on to do anything from having the science building named after them to claiming the dole under 4 different names. It’s a quirky mix but it works somehow.

This guide is not exhaustive; however, it covers all the relevant areas (sorry, sports science) and always remember: do not touch the lake water and avoid the swans. We bite.
