With Christmas and the first semester now in the rearview mirror, many students’ thoughts will be turning towards summer plans and, for final years, post-graduation plans. While J1s and travelling are naturally the most appealing of the summer options, many students opt to engage in summer internship programmes. These programmes, hosted by a wide variety of employers, offer an excellent way to gain experience in a field of interest, and potentially line up a job for post-graduation (many employers offer an opportunity to interview for graduate programmes at the end of summer internships). Most importantly, these internships give you the chance to earn some money.

The application process can be daunting, and simply keeping track of or finding internships and deadlines can be challenging in and of itself. So, The College Tribune has thrown together a selection of Ireland’s most competitive summer internship programs that are currently open for application to help you get started and (hopefully) make the most of the many internship opportunities out there.
