Schemes like HEAR and DARE and the SUSI grant do help immensely (speaking from a personal experience), so I don’t feel that the system is completely unfair. Yes Leaving Certificate can be stressful, but it is difficult to examine one’s knowledge otherwise. We have to take into account that alternations have been made to the CAO points system in 2017 and getting into college shouldn’t be easy, students need to put some work into it.
